Youth Groups

Our youth activities promote our values and help build lifelong friendships.

Developing and promoting youth activities is an important part of our church. Here we will discuss what we are doing to assist in the growth of our youth.

The church offers several wonderful group activities for our younger members. Some of the more popular offerings and activities are:
  • St. Maurice Religious Education Classes

  • Junior High School Youth Groups for our clustered parish

  • Faith Every Day (FED) High School Youth Ministry for our clustered parish

FAITH EVERY DAY HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH MINISTRY for ST. MAURICE and ST. GENEVIEVE

Contact Diane Montes or 734-261-4059 for more information about Youth Ministry.

If you’ve never come to youth group before, now’s the perfect time to start! All high school students are invited to join us on Monday nights from 7-9 pm in the Fr. Wolber Activities Center at St. Genevieve. Come meet new friends and learn about God and our Catholic faith in a different and exciting way! Our meetings and events are planned and/or approved by a team of your peers and include prayer, social justice projects, ways to grow in faith, retreats, and topics relevant to teens such as dating, stress, and many others. Meet new people who are trying to live out their faith in a crazy world. (And there’s always food!) Check us out – you can come as often or as little as you like! You can always bring friends and they don’t even have to be Catholic! Hope to see you there. As always, contact Diane Montes at hidinow@yahoo.com or 734-261-4059 for more information about Youth Ministry

This Saturday, September 11, we will remember the 2900 victims who died from the terrorist attacks on our country, and rightly so. This Saturday you also have an opportunity to remember the over 1 million babies who have died from abortion in our country at a Pro-Life Vigil with Archbishop Vigneron. Meet at St. Michael’s for 7:30 Mass and then we’ll travel to an abortion clinic in Westland to pray the Rosary. We’ll return to St. Michael’s at 10 am for Benediction and refreshments. Contact me by email or phone if you’d like to attend with FED and I’ll email you a permission slip or attend with your family. Adult drivers are needed.

If you are the parent of a teen who has never come to a youth group meeting, I urge you to encourage your young person to attend at least three meetings this year. We don’t claim to know all there is to know about anything by the 8th grade, but somehow we feel it’s all right to let our children stop receiving formation in their faith after Confirmation. In these crazy times, if there is anything we can do to equip our children to be happy and successful in this life, (to say nothing of the next life!) it is to help them grow in love and knowledge of the Lord! Please take your responsibility seriously and require attendance at Mass, receive the Sacraments frequently with your teen, pray together and read and discuss Scripture! Parents are the primary faith educators of their children, but youth ministry is a great way to enrich your teen’s faith experience! Faith Every Day high school youth ministry offers service projects, prayer and worship opportunities, retreats, conferences with other Catholic teens, and so much more to help your teen experience the fullness of our faith. They can’t experience it if they don’t come! Regular Monday meetings begin September 13 in the Activity Center at St. Genevieve from 7-9 pm. If your teen has sports practice and has to come late, or can’t make Monday meetings at all but would still like to attend other events with us, that’s fine. If you are registered at St. Maurice or St. Genevieve you will receive a mailing in the next few weeks with our calendar and an invitation to our Family Potluck Dinner

All high school students are invited to join us for youth ministry meetings and events. Don’t worry if you can’t come every week, or if you have to come late – it’s all good! Bring a friend, and they don’t even have to be Catholic!
